Re: Where to buy this Carrier bearing

Check out Rock Auto's website, they may carry them. I have got quite a few parts from them over the years for these trucks.

Re: Where to buy this Carrier bearing

Ok so I found the bearing. Te problem now is the rubber donut. I attached a few pictures after I took it apart. I forgot to take them before I disassembled them. I will try and update from here on out.

Re: Where to buy this Carrier bearing

might find what you're looking for here. Not sure your year truck... this clip for a 68 (since the link you posted was for a 68).

Am assuming you could stroll into Napa or Oreilly or CarQuest and find what you need. Carrier bearing is a pretty common consumable item on these trucks. Replaced more than I've wanted to replace... http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...make=Chevrolet

or here

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php (will have to work down to your specific vehicle via make/yr/model/drivetrain/driveshaft/center bearing support or something like that..

Re: Where to buy this Carrier bearing

Carrier bearings aren't any more a consumable item than ujoints.
Any time you replace a carrier bearing you SHOULD have the shaft checked for ballance. Being out of ballance will kill a carrier bearing quick, not so much the bearing but the rubber surround for the horseshoe style and the brackets for the car style carrier.

Any time I've ever replaced a carrier bearing..... a few hundred times. The shaft needed some weight to make the ballance perfect. That's with a shaft that is straight and unmolested. If you start changing ujoints and flipping yokes around or bend the stub or shaft (has the truck ever ran over anything in the road?) You will have a ballance issue.

Re: Where to buy this Carrier bearing

I want to let everyone know that I sent the driveline to Boyd's drive line service in Stockton. Barry completely went through it replacing the Bearing, installed the bearing housing and u joints and completed it by balancing it. Great guy if you need to have driveline work done call him. I Finally got the truck on the road and wow what a difference.
