Changing the color of my interior from black to red, HELP
hey guys,
My truck has a black interior. I wanted to change it to the original red interior that came from the factory. After reading a couple of threads, i found out that some parts can be painted instead of replaced. So my question is, what should be painted and what should be replaced. I know for some parts one is able to do it both ways but I want to know the recommended way. My interior is in nearly in mint condition and nothing needs replacing anyways, but for the sake of the color swap I have to. Another question I have is was the color that came from the factory red or burgundy, or was it both? I'm having a hard time deciding If any of u fellows has a red in interior and wants to swap, I don't mind that too (My truck is an 87 reg cab with auto everything with nearly mint interior and has only 65,000 original miles) Thanks in advance =) |

Re: Changing the color of my interior from black to red, HELP
what color is the exterior on your truck? the reason i ask this is because i myself like my interior to go with the exterior scheme it adds character. (i two toned my interior to match my exterior)
ill post pics of what my exterior looks like and post pics of my interior |

Re: Changing the color of my interior from black to red, HELP
all depends on your personal opinion. i was hoping your exterior was two toned lol i wanted to see another person two tone the interior like mine lol
and ive always liked the 90's model 454ss trucks that had the black exterior then when you open the door BAM!!! everything is red lol i do like what you are planning to do "ALL RED INTERIOR" |

If your black interior is nearly mint, I'd leave it. The ladies at my house never liked the red (aka "burgandy/purple") interior in my truck and were delighted when I switched to black. My $.01 - K

Re: Changing the color of my interior from black to red, HELP
I would just find red panels. They are plenty easy to find as red is a popular color

Re: Changing the color of my interior from black to red, HELP
I think of the door panels as a wear area and would not paint them as they scratch and wear off from use. As other members have said, the burgandy door panels are easy to come by.

looks nice, retina burning, but nice. imo the lower metal part of the dash should be black just to break up all that red
