Transmission crossmember

Does anybody know of an aftermarket crossmember for a 80's era truck that will allow for 3" dual exhaust? Also, will a 63-72 crossmember, like the ones performance online makes, still fit?
Thx!

Re: Transmission crossmember

This is the one I used, Its technically for 62-72 trucks but the frame is the same width for 73-87 trucks.

I then fabbed up a custom 3 inch to run above the mount.

FlatBlack....Where did you buy you tranny crossmember? Did it bolt into the same location as the old one?

Re: Transmission crossmember

I used the same trans x-member for my 89 TBI/454 dually (just had to slightly modify it). Dual 3" exhaust fit w/no issues. My fuel filter/fuel line routing & location kind of made life difficult & wouldn't allow me to run the pipes symmetrically but other than that they fit.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Transmission crossmember

That one is nice. Porterbuilt also sells one. He's a vendor here. It's the same one that comes in the dropmember kit.

I have 3 of PB's trans x-members. I like the way the POL/ECE x-members tie the top & bottom of the frame rail together similar to OE vs PB's or other similar aftermarket units that just bolt to the side of the frame. So the PB units are leaning against a corner in the shop despite the fact they are an easier install.

I bought it from performance online, it lined up nicely with two of the already existing holes on the frame but i did have to cut/drill my other holes.
