Drive shaft question????
We are removing an i6 with a four speed and putting a sbc with a 400 th with a short shaft in....Was wondering what vehicle i would i find a long enough shaft to use....i realize i wouldnt be able to find a direct fit but atleast i could have it long enough to shorten......thank you in advance...

Going to be hard, most factory shafts that long are made of too large of diameter tubing to fit through the crossmember.
Let's say after looking for a week you find a good useable driveshaft with the correct weld yokes and you buy it for $60 have it shortened and ballanced $60 new ujoints $40 and you end up with an old shaft that works for $160 That price only goes up it the ujoint cups are spinning in the yokes, the ring grooves have been crushed or blown out, the weld yokes are warped, or the tubing dented or bent. Or you can supply a trans yoke and have a new shaft built for about $200 in a few hours. About $250 if you need a new trans yoke. Posted via Mobile Device
