Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

I got a replacement rear brake hose and went to put it on. The end that connects to the rear axle lines is different than original. My original one is more of a square block with a bolt going through it to attach it to the bracket. The new one has a rounded end on it and the original bolt won't fit through it. Does anyone have the part number for the correct one? I've checked OReilly, Autozone, Rock Auto, and LMC Truck to no avail.

Yeah, just came back to update and saw your comment. Sorry about that.

My truck is a 1972 Chevrolet 2wd longbed with coil springs.

I've also chaecked a few more places online and everyone shows the rounded one.

Re: Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

I replaced mine with the rounded ones and had no problems, I know that doesn't help much without a part number, but they came from O'Reillys, bolts went right through. Mine is a 72 also. Maybe they gave you the wrong hoses?

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I would have to blame myself for getting the wrong part, I looked it up myself . Plus, The part number is the same as everyone shows online.

Re: Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

I got mine recently from RockAuto and had to grind down the outside diameter of the mounting bolt to get it to fit. Seemed to work okay with this modification. Length of the hose is still too long in my opionion.

Re: Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

I just ordered them from LMC. They did not list 1967 3/4ton with leaf spring so I guessed and went with what came ont he 68-69 3/4 ton with leaf. I hope its right as LMC could not verify why theren was not one listed for my truck.

Good luck

I ordered mine for a 71 and had to send the front hoses back because I had forgotten I had changed the front calliper's to 72 model. He was very nice about it and swapped them out for my return postage only.I have the ones for the 72 on my 71 now and this is the back hose

Re: Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

After digging through the catalogs with the boss I found a hose that will work. It's a Brakebest part number BH38535. The hose is a little longer than stock but the ends are spot on. By the way, my hose mounts like mmsidaho's through a frame crossmember.

Re: Aftermarket Brake Hose Problems

I have a 71 rear axle under my 72. I do know that the mounting bracket on a 71 is on the front passenger side axle tube and on the 72 it was originally on a stud off the rear end cover. I just replaced my rear hard lines with new ones from inline tube due to the fact that mine were all mangled and the driver side had a splice. Next project is a new rubber line from the frame to axle. Does anyone know if the rear brake hose for a 71 and 72 (both with coils) is different or the same? I guess I will order the hose for a 71 (?)
