Re: has anyone bought the 4-6 drop kit from LMC?

What are the components on your DJM kit and what are the reasons you aren't happy with it? How low are you wanting to go on your '87?

I would not buy lowering kits from LMC for any reason. They are not a suspension specialist, and the markup is high. You should buy through a vendor here on the forum, in fact we have a suspension marketplace. You will pay less, get better service and advice and the RIGHT parts. McGaughy's makes great suspension stuff, I've become kind of loyal to them.

I'm lowering my '87 to 4.5/5-6 soon. I've got McGaughy's 2.5" spindles, a simple $40 flip kit bracket I bought here in the classifieds from "Specialtyretail" plus McGaughy's rear shock relocators and I will cut one coil in the front. Then I will measure and cross reference my shocks from Monroe's charts and go get them from the parts store. Drop shocks suck, I really don't care what gimmick or name they're given or how many people have bought them. I've chucked countless failed "drop" shocks in the garbage. They're almost always cheaply made, one-size-fits-all snake oil crap. I say always because there may be some decent drop shocks out there but I haven't found them and my guess is that I wouldn't want to pay for them...that's a personal preference though.

I'll have about $400 into the drop with alignment and shock relocators and new Monroe shocks.

I agree with LEEVON about not ordering suspension stuff thru LMC.

My 76 C-10 is lowered using all Western Chassis stuff & it rides (and handles) great!
It has spindles & springs up front & flip kit and shackles in the rear.

I was pleased enough with it that I used all WC stuff on my 98 daily driver when I lowered it.

I would just try to by brand names that people on the board recommend & buy it from a board vendor or a suspension company you have delt with before.

Re: has anyone bought the 4-6 drop kit from LMC?

awesome, just awesome advice! Well the problems with djm was with the fit for some of the equipment. I bought the c20 lowering kit that comes with lower control arms, rear hangers and shackles. The first problem I ran into was where the coil mates at the lower arm. The spring did not set in the pocket correctly and was 3 inches off, on the bottom of control arm. The rear hangers did not even come close to the factory rivet holes. SO having to drill new ones and relocate the brake line had to be done. The bump stops couldint be tightened. The stud just spun in the bushing. I know when lowering and customizing a truck, modifications have to be made. But you'd think after spending 800+ on the kit, some things would go a little better. The online contact took weeks to reply to some of my technical questions. The parts were good quality, other than the powder coating chipping off almost right away..which sucked cause it looked really cool. I really cant thank you enough for all that great info and help everyone. It really means a lot!
