Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

I'm going to air ride and tub the rear so I'm going to go 9in rear so it wouldn't be worth buying a parts truck

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

We just did one. Got 1/2t spindles had them reamed for 3500 ball joints. And changed brake hoses. Theyre different on the caliper side. And a 1/2 rear axle used a spicer cross over U joint. 1350X1310., did it in weekend.

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

Go to the junkyard and pull the upper and lower control arms and 5 lug spindles/hubs/brake calipers and bolt them on ur truck.....i'd prolly grab some new inner and outer tie rod ends from parts store....and most likely balljoints cause its doubtful you will get lucky enough to find one with new/good ones

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

I'm going to be air riding with probably porter built drop member. So I would need drop spindles?

If you are goin with a drop member just order new drop spindle....comes with new arms....you will need new rotors/bearings and new calipers/brake lines and you will be set...drop member come with rack so your steering is took care of

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

So here's my plan. I want to lay frame on 20s with a 31/18r20 on the back. I know my dads 66 has a maverick 9" under it and it had 29/18r15s on it with just tubs it wasNt laid out though just lowered. If I don't have to use porterbuit to do this that's be great anything to save money is a plus. So what all will I need to do so? And does someone make a 3 or4 link set up for a third member?

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

If your going to dropmember the front all you need is 1/2 ton spindles and let nate know what your doing so you get the right ball joints. The rear you could probably get away with a weld on rear dropmember ask nate first about your 9 inch.Or a weld in kit from http://www.scottshotrods.com/4link.asp On the bolt pattern take a look at http://www.kplinks.com/product.php?p...&cat=95&page=2

Re: Switching crew from 8 to 5

Some local guys tell me you can put a s10 hub on a c10 spindle and it will work to swap to smaller lug pattern....never tried it though
