B&M Unimatic Shifter - Install?
Has anyone installed one of these in a square. From what I understand, it is one of B&M's only shifters that mounts the activator parts below the floorboard. I'm not sure if there is enough room between the floor and the tranny to make this happen. According to the install info, it need 2.5 inches below the floor for clearance. Any thoughts?

Well I just did a B&M Mega style with no problems. Not sure what you mean by activator What kind of trans? Mines a 350. But the way it loops around the trans, I just put a slightly slotted whole for the cable to keep it a nice 45 degrees. I know with mine I actually had a lot of room under there.

I think that shifter works like a Lokar. My truck had a Lokar in it when I bought it. The PO cut a HUGE hole in the trans tunnel to install it. That being said, it should work but don't hold my feet to the fire on that.

Ya, probably about the same. I've got the motor/trans out right now so I can't measure between the tranny and cab floor to see what type of clearence I have.

Re: B&M Unimatic Shifter - Install?
My Lokar had a plate that bolted to the top and back of the trans and that is what the shifter and linkage bolted to. No cable, just a piece of threaded rod with with small heim joints on either end.

I believe this shifter mounts to the driver side of the trans. That is where the shifter controls are on the TH400 and 700R. Similar to the side mounted shifters on muncie and saginaw manual transmissions.
You should have plenty of clearance imho. |

Re: B&M Unimatic Shifter - Install?
I hate the clunky b&m shifters. Will only use their ratchet shifters for racing and that's after polishing and lube.
Mine has a lokar and I love it Posted via Mobile Device

OK, now you've got me curious about the Lokar. I'll have to look into that. Also, you mentioned polish/lube on the B&M. What are you polishing and lubing?
