What do you think about this....

I always wanted some under tailgate lights, but dislike those LED strips because when a single light goes out the whole strip is ruined. Also they don't fit the look of these trucks in my opinion so I did what my dad did in the 80s before LEDs came out on the market. Only thing you really have to do is trim the bumper step matt down a bit so you can see them.

I think they'd look fine on a 1 ton dually but may be a bit much on a 1/2 ton. Maybe a smaller light would work better?
Sorry, I'm just not big on the extra light thing.

I have to agree here. Those lights have me looking to the bedsides for some dually fenders.

I think they would be "ok" auxiliary brake lights to tell the drunkard behind you that you were a stoppin now! But a bit much for running lights.

Re: What do you think about this....

Thanks for the opinions guys.... I like the setup, but I guess I am used to it. Everyone around here seems to have marker lights everywhere. I'm also on the FD so I like being seen on the side of the road at night. I don't see the lights being too much really, but to each his own. I suppose they may look better if the truck was lifted a little.

Nobody was dogging you or anything. For me, it's not that it looks BAD, but it just doesn't look good to me on anything besides a dually. That's how I feel about any extra clearance lights, whether they're on the cab, tailgate or wherever.

The fact that you're a fireman and use the truck on calls adds some reasoning behind them beyond simple aesthetics. The important part, though, is that this is YOUR truck and it is what YOU like. The beauty of car modifications is that they reflect the owner's tastes, no matter how simple or extreme the modifications and if it makes the owner happy, then it shouldn't matter to them what anyone else thinks. Whether it's someone next to you at the gas pumps, sitting at a car show, or across the country looking at pictures of your vehicle in the internet, the only opinion that really matters is yours.

Critics be damned. It's yours. You like it. Own it. Be happy.

I completely understand not everyone having the same taste. I just wanted to show people there are some options besides just buying from the aftermarket. I am a big fan of the shaved look to by the way. Nice truck man.

And hey, maybe someone will come in here and see the pics and love it and copy you. Just know that none of us were putting you down in any way here.
