1956 chev coe
hi guys i was wanting to know what is a 1956 or 1957 chev coe truck worth it has a v8 engine i think a 283 any help would be great

Without any pictures or description beyond what you have said, I would say somewhere between $100 and $100,000 depending on condition.

the big trucks are worth what someone will pay. Usually not much more that scrap value. The 55-59 Low Cab Forward (guessing that is what you are calling an COE) are gaining popularty. If you are looking at one I can give you some pointers in what to look for.

Hello all, new here. Lots of cool build threads here too. I own a repair shop and am in the process of locating a 55-57 LCF cab and frankensteining that onto a newer flatbed rollback chassis and doing some local towing. There's something really cool about the old 50s and 60s snubnosed trucks.
Shane, you've mentioned that you know what to look for in these LCF trucks. I'm curious what your take is on these. Thanks everyone! This is one I'm looking at now. |

thats a 55 with a big back glass and looks close to rust free. Thats a heck of a find. Is it a chevy or buick motor..... some of them lcf used nailheads

It's a Chevy engine, with leaks and burning oil free of charge.
According to the owner, he drove it 60MPH home when he bought it down the interstate with no issues. However with 1 exhaust manifold broken in half it would have been tough to HEAR anything going wrong. Were the nailheads in the GMCs? I never heard of them in the Chevys. But the LCF is a whole different animal when it comes to production statistics. |

The driver's door has minimal rust, everything else is solid.....allegedly.

My initial plan was to go with a 55-66 cab on a newer chassis. After seeing the LCF or COE cabs I changed plans. Once I obtain all the pieces I'll start a build thread to chart my abuse.

i found a 1956 chev cab over with a v8 small block the truck looks reasonable it has stainless trim around the cab
