Parking brake rod??
Hey guys I was replacing my parking brake cables from front to back and found the rod on the passenger side is not removable. Or at least I couldn't tell how to take it apart to replace the cable... Can anyone tell me how to go about it? Change the whole rod? cut and re weld? Etc?
Thanks in advance Scott Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Parking brake rod??
Tim the link is to my thread. The rod is a solid rod with non removable caps. I will check the manual but I physically looked at it and I am a little puzzled that chevy would do that.

Re: Parking brake rod??
Fixed the link
Chassis Service Manual Fig 64 on page 274 should give a break down on what you are looking at. IIRC the cable threads through the rod and guides before it is clipped to the axle cables.

Re: Parking brake rod??
IIRC it just comes out from the front after the cable is pulled.

Re: Parking brake rod??
Pull the cable, unhook the guide and remove the rod from the front.

Re: Parking brake rod??
On the ends of the cable there are stops pressed on. The stop on one side is smaller and will slip through the guide, then the guide will slip off the rod.
