I see that there is a sliding window latch for sale on ebay for 125$ Which I feel is pretty pricey. My suburban is a hotrod/driver project and not a restoration project so I do not have to have stock latches
Has anyone come up with a way to latch the sliding wondows other than stock latches? Mine was a three seat model and I plan to change the rear set to one piece fixed glass, but I would like to keep the middle sliding windows. I searched the forum and did not fine any ideas.

HA! That's what my '61 came with when I bought it! 7 years later, and the sticks are still stuck in the exposed springs of the pick-up truck bench seat back.

They seem to go for $100 or so, when they show up for sale.

Definitely one of the hardest pieces to find.

I just bought one for $50, and couldn't get the guy a money order fast enough. I've got two sliders and two fixed windows, and will get the latches installed when I get around to paint and bodywork.

With the way they're built and the portion of the latch on the window frames, I haven't been able to figure out another solution.

Anyone have a picture of one. Seems in the Parts Book they can go on either side and are a two piece unit. Bracket #3781413 and Handle #3783434 60-66 Sub. A.R. stands for As Required

Make that GM part# 3763434 for the handle. I wrote 3783434. sorry.

GMC part# the same as Chevrolet. Does not seem to cross over to any passenger car application.

Seems 1960-61 used Part# 3763479 Bracket to start and in March of 61 the number was superseded to use 3781413.

It seems to me that most people end up going with one piece windows so this may be a part that never gets re-produced because there might not be demand for them. Which also means the $ for the existing ones is going to keep going up unfortunately.

im doing some ! ive have some problems /one machine shop closed up while making my tooling ! some of the tooling is now setting on my bench /trying to get the laser guy /cutting the stainless pcs, but hope to have them done in spring 2013 ??? probably sell for around $100.00 each i hope to be able to sell several sets ? thanks mike "carryallman" wahl

I think you'll definitely sell some....a hundred seems like a lot, till you're looking for some......I'll break open my piggy bank for those

Thats good to know brand new ones for 100 or less? would be nice! i am still going to keep looking and thinking about it and I will have a pair to experiment with, Are the solid window frames any easier to get for the non sliders?

im saying $100 -each right now/seems like outside tooling expenses are high! laser cutting,form die,material,special screws etc. BUT when done maybe i can knock several dollars off to group? thanks mike {im still working on them,cant seem to get them finished , too much other work ! }

I'm using small hinges screwed to the trim, and when they're folded over, they go behind the glass so they can't be opened

Hi guys
I have a 4x4 64 burb with sliders and the obvious problem, noooo latches! So after seeing the above flea bay post and the asking prices i had to go back to my motto: work with what is there! I found one latch from a guy up the street (89miles) and he lets me use it to try and reproduce these buggers. Hers the plan: casting them out of bronze, bronze is strong and can be nickle plated, the way the latches work bronze should be ok, the bolt nut and spring should be out there some place available (suggestions are welcome). The challenge with casting is shrinkage so we will see once i have the first set going and tested. let me know what your thoughts are.

The gentleman I purchsed my Burb from was also talking about this.

There is another guy on here that is also getting some $ for them as they are rare.

Currently, my windows are glued shut with all the grime and moss in the rubber, so I'm not too worried about it at the moment.
