WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Need a bezel for the dual aux tank config (floor sill mount type). New/Used is fine with me! Part number is 3994195, not that that matters though. Pic below for reference (sorry for the crappy pic, but just want to make sure you know what I'm talkin bout). Thanks gents!

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
I've got a spare NOS piece I'd part with for $75...

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
If unused NOS and 3-position (left/main/right, like the fuzzy pic I posted above), I will take it for $75 sight unseen. If it's used (as in previously installed, etc), could you please post a picture before I decide?
Thanks very much deadhead! I think we've been chasing similar parts all over the country on our builds ![]() |

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
LOL! I think you are correct.
I'll post a pic soon. It's a true unused NOS part for dual tanks (has main/left/right) with GM packaging. I need the version that lacks the right tank on the bezel for my build but doubt I'll ever find a NOS piece.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Thx Deadhead - if it looks like the one in my fuzzy pic (black with lighter lettering), no need to post a pic - I'll take it. If it is different, still interested, but would appreciate the pic if not too much trouble. If the same though, just pm me your paypal info or however you'd like to receive funds. Thx very much!

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Jocko - Here ya' go. The gold paint on the main arrow is a bit shelf worn as shown. Plastic is intact and the bezel is still sealed in the package.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
That's odd that GM made this part when they never offered dual tanks.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
payment sent, thx a bunch Pete.
Does not matter for my purchase (i.e. I definitely want this part no matter what) - but to Special K's comment - what would a pre-73 with dealer installed aux tanks actually have for a bezel?? Pete - did you ever find your correct bezel for the single factory aux tank? Was looking at your build thread and saw that your truck had a bezel before you started - am curious what labeling it had - just "main" and "aux"?? Is that what you've been looking for? Learn something new every day. Regardless of factory starus or not - have seen plenty of these on our year trucks, so there must be something to it. Perhaps dealers could install them with dual aux tanks because it was a C40-60 part prior to 73 or something like that?? Hmmm... However, when I ran 3994195, it came up as a 71-72 Chev Truck part. Interesting subj. Bottom line, I want to be able to remember which tank I'm switching to, so I need one of these things ![]() Last edited by jocko; 01-13-2013 at 11:20 PM. |

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Just my 2 cents worth, but in the factory assembly manual, it does show a plate with juist left and main. Also I have a 72 big block box with factory aux tank, big block has the larger canister style fuel pump, with the return line. It has the larger fuel lines and what appears to be another fuel valve on the bottom of the first fuel valve. Did G.M. only use this style in 72 only? Any insight on this? Do you happen to have another plate? Thanks Mike.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Good point. The aux tanks that came on my K20 were the dealer installed accessory type with both a RH and a LH tank (total 3 with that in the cab)...perhaps GM minted a bezel for these dealer installs? The bezel that came on my truck is exactly the same as the one pictured above. I do believe the same bezel was used for '73 and later GM aux tanks.
For my build, I did away with the dealer installed aux tanks and added the correct '72 only factory single aux tank option. These trucks came from GM with a bezel that looks like this (notice the bezel lacks the word "right" but is otherwise the same including the arrow to nowhere):

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
Just where did you get that P/N from that leads you to believe it is for a three-way valve? The NL2 and the earlier N18 are different and different from each other. The three-way is probably listed as a service replacement part and not period correct.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
it is the part number that w314speed had in his NOS post - he had the part number posted above for the part and it had left/right/main on it. He posted the # in his thread, but if you look closely at the bag (kinda blurry) you can make out that the part number matches his post. See post 1/1st pic: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=506279
I don't really care about the part number, just posted in case it helped someone locate - but I do care that the plate has left/right/main on it. The one Pete's sending does, so I'm good to go no matter what it's off of. Tim, what you posted matches what I found also - and it is listed as 70-72 fleetside where I found it also. But had I found it where you found it, I would have expected it to be the 2-position type (no "right") but I was working from the number that was on the bag that contained the left/rigth/main bezel, so I figured it'd be good. Considering Pete's matches also, I'd say it's a good PN for the 3-position labeled bezel. |

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
My fuel valve only had two round metal spacers installed. Not like the type shown in the assembly manual. Also do you guys happen to know if the fuel float is the same as a cab tank?

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
thx bronze72 - that makes sense. Might be a carpet/non-carpet sorta thing. Spacers make more sense than a plat in a carpet truck. Who knows.

Re: WTB: Aux Fuel Tank Bezel
I still have to drop/clean/re-coat my aux's. That'll be fun. They are wheelwell fill, so at least don't have to worry about filler neck in the bedside, etc. I don't mind the factory aux tank fill, but not a big fan of the dealer installed doors on the bedsides. I am assuming I have no means of reading fuel level in the dual dealer aux tanks since only the factory aux setup had the dash switch for changing what you see on the gauge... Hmmm, there's another dilemma to solve... How to know what I have in the aux tanks for fuel level when there was no factory provision for reading the level in DUAL dealer-installed tanks that I am aware of. Anyone know? I'm sure there was some way I'm not aware of - I doubt so many folks would have opted for dealer aux tanks if there was no way to read the fuel level... Now I'm really curious.
