Heater control cables
I noticed the levers on my defrost and heat settings when set all the way to the right kind of move back a little. They do not stay at the far end of the setting. I have WD40'd the back of the levers and the cable where it goes into the cable housing but they still do not stay. Is there a way to adjust the cable to add more slack or decrese it?

One of my levers broke off at the face of the controls, seems to stay in that position pretty well now

Well it been a while since I did this but here goes.
I was having the same problem and so I started taking the cables out of the truck completely. I then oiled the cables really good and hung them up for a few days and kept oiling everyday and after a week I reinstalled them. They work well and never had anymore problems since. You can also look at where they attach to the housing and adjust them a little. The drawing is for non AC trucks but it'ss the same basic thing for either.

Make sure you work the cables good while they are hanging. Pull them back and forth to get the oil into the slleeve. Pull one end all the way tight then put the oil to it while you pull it back the other direction to help feed the oil into the sleeve.
