Motor identification

hey guys i have a 66 GMC it has a v8 in it but i have no idea what v8 any ideas on how to tell what it is like 350 or what thanks for the help and it originally had the 351e also is there a way to tell if it is a 3/4 or 1/2 ton it currently has a 1 ton rear end that i am going to swap back to original when i figure out what it was originally

yea go to FAQ,frequently asked questions and put in engine decipher that will tell you what you need to do,that's what I did.there's #'s on the right front of head on block flat area with #'s on it.someone else may chime in and help also.
