Stock looking wheel choice
My wife really wants to keep the grandpa look of this truck as is, which i tend to agree.
We want to keep the hubcaps but also would like to convert to disc brakes. Are there any wheels available that I can still use these hubcaps and disc up front and have a wider wheel in the back? |

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
Yes - I am running the stock wheel up front (15x6.5 w/dogdish caps) with disc brake/drop spindle setup, it is common to have to trim the lower control arm slightly for most trucks as the stock wheel will rub slightly when front wheels are turned lock-to-lock. I had a custom set made for the rear (15x8) so I can run the dogdish caps and have a staggered look.

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
You can run a 15x6.5 six lug wheel from a 73-up 4x4 in the front to clear the disk brake caliper and find a stock 15x8 six lug wheel for the rear. Basically, this is the set up I'm going to be using. However, I'm going to run stanless trim rings and 73-up dog dish caps

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
I put disks on my truck, and my stock steel wheels wouldn't work, I used 15x7 and 15x8 Wheel Vintique and caps

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
Yes the smoothie.. I didn't nessicarly want smoothies, but with caps and paint you can't tell the are smooth anyways.. And has ZERO fitment issues.. If you convert to disk the wheels on your truck will not work

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
Posted via Mobile Device The two on the left are 15x6.5 factory 73-up 4x4 wheels that clear the disk brakes. You can tell the generation of wheel by the amount of nubs that hold the hub cap on. 67-69/70ish have three nubs. 73-up have four nubs. The two on the left are factory 15x8 Last edited by Rochlow; 01-18-2013 at 07:28 AM. |

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
So these series 12 will hold a stock hubcap or do you have to buy special hubcaps?
These seem to be what Im looking for, however we think we may go for a more lo profile look as well.. Looking at the wheel diameters man the prices jump 15" $68 16" $93 17" $225 (prices via Summit Racing) Why are 17" soooo much more. I dont get that big of a price jump. |

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
Grandpa look? You mean fresh off the dealership lot look. Appears your caps have been repainted and the red trim was covered over. Caps should look like this.

Re: Stock looking wheel choice
For 6-lug disc brakes, any wheel from a disc brake truck will work, which would be '71-up K/5-K/10
