Radiator - Where to buy?

My 70 C10 is in need of a new radiator. The tanks have a couple pin holes each and I think there maybe a leak between the the core and one of the tanks. I checked oreillys and advanced auto parts and they both told me there are none in the warehouse and they don't know when they will be back in stock. Motor is a 307 w/3ott and no a/c.

Do you have CarQuest in your area? I bought one for my truck there. I'm sure LMC, Classic Parts, etc. can help you out as well.

ugh. Yes I thing Advance is discontinuing them. Could try the usual sources, GMC Pauls, Brothers Classic Parts. Use "Stovebolt" at classic parts right now for 10% off

Why not have your current radiator repaired?

Considered it. I called a few places locally, but no one has called me back yet.

I'm in the same boat, and when I'm ready I think I'll get it repaired. The aluminum and other replacements probably won't be as good as these original radiators.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

Replacement radiators for these trucks at DIY auto parts stores in my neck of the woods are all brass and about $200. The replacement rad from same store for my 92 K1500 was aluminum and plastic. Radiator repair shops around here are quickly dying off, in part to our nanny states regulations and due to non repairable aluminum and plastic rads in most cars post mid 80s.

It's a similar situation here, but no one actually has one or knows when they will be able to get one. Advanced seemed like they could gette 4 core, but that means I would have to get new mounts as well and by then I would be over $300 in the radiator.

Cool Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

He didn't rod it out but fixed the upper water neck that was leaking and cleaned & flushed the inside out. Repainted it black.

Even with the leaks it still cools fine. I'm just tired of cleaning up the mess and buying coolant.

Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

When I looked mine up at O'Reilly's it said it was aluminum and plastic but when it came in it was all metal. I ordered a 4 core for a 72.

Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

Have you considered a custom aluminum radiator? I have a Fluidyne rad in my truck. The only thing is on my radiator there isn't a built in trans cooler so you would have to run an external trans cooler but direct fit aluminum radiators can be anywhere from 1-200 bucks and IMO look cooler then the stock ones. Just an option to keep in mind

Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

If it helps any, look up radiators for a '77 malibu. I went to pepboys for mine. It's the same dimensions ( 28 1/4" x 17") if you are ok with a 2 core, and that it's plastic and aluminum. It was only a 100 bucks. Fit right in there. Only problem was the bottom diameter was 1.5" and my hose was 1.75" I inserted a piece of the upper hose in the bottom hose to fill up the gap. Just throwing this out there.

Re: Radiator - Where to buy?

I have an O'reilly's 4 core radiator. It started leaking after ten years. They replaced it on the lifetime warranty. No Questions asked. I'll never have to buy another one.
