PICS! Thieves beware: trick window regulator!
This is one time when not fixing a problem on my truck actually paid off. So, all of you procrastinators out there, listen up!
I'm sure you read my other post about my road trip to Kansas City in the 68 Chevy. (If not, read this thread ) Well, spent a night in a Comfort Inn in KC, and came out the next morning to find my truck broken into. Talked with the police, and they said I was lucky, because there had been a group of kids tryin to steal cars all week long, and apparently, they failed with my truck. How did they possible fail to break into my almost stock chevy pickup, you ask? (Cause it isn't difficult to break into these trucks!) They busted up the vent window (see pics below). They pushed the vent window in the wrong direction. Then, they tried to roll down the window, but the driver's window regulator has a busted roller. So sometimes the rivot pin (with no roller) slips out of the track inside the door, and you can't roll the window down without opening up the door panel. Well, they cranked 'the wrong way' on the window and locked her up just sweetly. They couldn't get in! And, they gave up! Wooohoooo! I still have my baby! And all because I refused to fix the busted roller on the window crank! Laziness pays off! Here is the leftovers of the crooked vent window. I spent a good chunk of the weekend getting the window back on the correct side of the divider. (I took the rubber out). And a view from the inside: They damaged the hinge: and put a nice chip in the glass: And another pic: And now, I have been reading all kinds of former posts about security in our trucks, and what to do. Things like 1. Kill Switches - all over the place and in multiples 2. Automatic Windows and cutoffs 3. Battery cutoffs 4. Fuel cutoffs 5. And GPS systems that locate your vehicle Bottomline, I am very thankful to still have my chevy! ~jewels. p.s. how do i fix the 'typo' in the title where i spelled the word 'thieves' incorrectly? i can change it in the post, but will it forever remain a 'typo' in the title on the board page?

damn you're lucky. I've had mine broken into twice, except instead of bending the vent window they used a rock. The second time, it was an even bigger rock that flew all the way to the other side and smashed my armrest and door panel...they got my stereo and CD's the first time, but the cops found my stereo that night and i got it back.

That is lucky. Hopefully they cut themselves up trying to steal it.

I noticed a nice thumbprint on the vent window did they catch the people responsable? Are they going to reimburse you the damages done to your truck?
Personally if it was my truck I would just want names and address's (I can't stand thieves) |

little ba$tards, wouldn't you just like to catch them, and givim a good swift kick in the n%ts, glad they didn't get your truck. I'd love to booby trap a truck, and leave it in a good thievin spot, and video tape the carnage,a guy in Vancouver got a little carried away, theives kept breaking into his electrical supply trailer, and each time they got him, they would leave a note ha ha got you again, so he wired it with dynomite, need less to say he's going to court right now. jewels who cares about spelling among friend, obviously I don't

My Jimmy doesn't lock either. I just went with the "No Wheel, No Steal". Take the steering wheel off and put a lock in it's place.
My stereo has a face that flips over. Best way to keep it when cruising to town for errands.
