Electric Fuel Pump
Alright guys I need, input, advice, the whole nine yards here.
A couple weeks ago my gas gauge gave me an inaccurate reading on my fuel so short story short my truck ran out of gas thankfully I was at home and not on the streets. My question is, how can I improve my fuel reading and also would electric fuel pump help with that as well? I'm trying to prevent from having to pump the truck a few times when I haven't started it in a few days. Again All advice, input, and everything is more than welcome! Thanks in advance.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Something must be wrong with the guage or sending unit circuit..... Electric fuel pump will not improve "I'm trying to prevent from having to pump the truck a few times when I haven't started it in a few days" . I would probably just check the guage, grounds, and the sending unit.
Electric fuel pump would also require regulator and posibly new tank, return line....so i would try to fix what you have before adding problems.. |

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Okay, I'll look into it.
Reason I was asking is because I plan on later actually converting to fuel injection and I was wondering if I just did a electric fuel pump if it would do anything.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
You could add the electric fuel pump but would need new sending unit(in tank fuel Pump) I am unsure how the in line ones works. I would probably wait until you go Fuel injected to get an electric pump...
Fuel injected is the way to go by the way.... I see my friend at work with an 82 and he is always doing the pump, pump....Sometimes he does not wait long enough to put it in drive and it stall... |

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Haha well when I don't drive it throughout the week I pump it twice and cranks right up no issues and runs.
Yeah I'm pretty sure efi is what I'll do in the long run just thought a fuel pump might work but if it's too much work I can wait to go fuel injected then go all out haha Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
be prepared to shell out some HUGE amounts of money unless you can find a good junkyard set up. i have a edelbrock pro flo, by the time i was done, i had well over $3500 in it. its nice in the morning though, just reach in & fire it up, & makes driving in the mountains way nicer. i dont know if i would do it again though, i can buy a lot of carbs for $3500. also go with a Aeromotive fuel pump, a little more expensive, but you'll save money not replacing something else (lived & learned)
