HEI Hook UP... What WIRES WHERE?

I am going to hook up ignition next week on my build. I am wondering if there is a write up or if someone can tell me what wires I need to put where on my HEI hook up.

I am going from the stock set up to the HEI.

Thanks pics welcome!

Simple!
Run a dedicated 12 gauge wire from an unfused plug on your fuse block to the battery plug in on your hei.

Re: HEI Hook UP... What WIRES WHERE?

I tried running a wire to an open fuse plug on my fuse box but every plug either received power all the time, when the lights were on, or didn't have enough power to produce spark when in crank. What I am going to have to do is branch off of the ignition wire on the back of the ignition switch. There might be something wrong with my fuse box but I've heard of others having the same problem

Here's a little more on the subject by fellow member Ray McElvoy.

Hooked it up like that on my 67 and still running strong 3 years later. I tested the plug and had 12v.
Did the same on my 65 and same thing.
Used a test light to find a plug in and a voltmeter to check the output.
Worked for me.
Maybe the 2 halves of your fuse box aren't plugged back togethor quite right.

You hooked it up in the fuse box or by tapping into the ignition? I used a test light on every open terminal on the fuse box and the only ones that had power on ignition dimmed the light as soon as I cranked over.

No. You misunderstand which one... it goes to "IGN UNFUSED" tap on the fuse block.

If that doesn't work you have problems that need to be addressed - those kind of problems often result in fire.

Accel (im sure more do to) offers a plug that has the power and tach wire in one nice little plug. I just got mine for $12 at Pep Boys. Run your power and tach wire together from inside the truck and POW HEI is in full effect.

Thats what I did as well and it works great, I also have mine ran to the'ING' fused outlet in the fuse box. I used 12g wire for it.
