Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
Mine's not a 4x4, but it does have 6 lug hurricanes...

Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
I like the hurricane / turbine style wheels, they look just right on these old trucks. Wasnt a lot of choices back in the day if you wanted something other than your stock steel wheels, slots, wagon and hurricanes were the way to go!

Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
It is a very cool classic look, seems like most of the time I see them they are without center caps? Any specific reason for this

Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
I'd love a set, but most 8-lug sets I see are 16.5s, and that really limits tire choices. I think they are easier to find in 5- and 6-lug varieties.
I have 16.5 Centerline Blackfoots (not Turbine/Hurricanes), and I'm thinking about ditching them for soemthing else when tire time comes around.

Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
The old Hurricanes and slot mags are hard to find centers for. The Western brand ones in particular use a push in style center, and they didn't hold up very well. With some simple modification I'd think you could use a more universal center cap.
Some of the Wagoneers came with a factory Hurricane style wheel too, but they're not very wide, probably 7 or 7 1/2" width, but they are 6 on 5 1/2" pattern. Mine are Westerns, probably put on the truck when it was fairly new!

Re: hurricane wheels on 4x4s
I never ran centers because they rusted and would rattle. But,mostly because centers look girlie and seeing the hubs looks tough! Let that full-floater show! You can order centers at tire stores for most any diameter
All wide wheels were 16.5 back then because no wide 16s were made. No Johnny Come Lately companies make 16.5s,but you can find 16.5 in the traditional and arguably best off road tires. You don't want no Nittos on your classic wheels nohow.
