Just Bought 2011 GMC 3500

I have just upgraded from my 2003 GMC 2500HD to a 2011 GMC 3500hd DRW. My 2003 had the 8.1L motor which i thought it was very powerful until i got my 2011. Man what a difference in power. I have never had a Diesel before can any one give any tips or secrets to help keep maintenance or what to look out for as far as problems?

You, I envy sir. Do a search for efiLive\exhaust packages and a particular company should come up. It's just under $1k and should have that dually in the high 13's.

How many miles on it? Make sure you use quality filters for everything. I personally won't touch mine until the warranty is done. It's pretty much fuel and go. I've had to add DEF about every 5K miles at $13, so it's not much of a concern. I also use fuel additive such as PS Diesel Kleen, Stanadyne, or opti-lube is good but kind of expensive. The only downside.....I don't drive it enough!

Re: Just Bought 2011 GMC 3500

When i bought truck in January it had 75K miles. Must be highway miles as the truck was only 2 years old. It had just flipped 78K miles this month. Running great but has a severe shutter pulling heavy loads. Dealership replacing drive shaft from a 2 piece unit to a 1 piece unit under warranty.
