What are c notches and what do they do? I'm looking at buying a drop kit that comes with bolt in c notches just wondering if I have to do anythibg special to truck.

They add clearance in your frame directly above the rearend's axle tube.
(to allow for more drop)

That's not a z'd frame, a z'd frame is when the front of the frame just in front of the cab is cut and raised then rewelded effectively allowing the front to tuck more and the truck to sit lower. The z is in reference to the shape the frame where cut and rewelded resembles.

A c notch is small its called that because the cut out looks like the letter c,Those are step notches its bigger brother.A z'd frame is a fully different animal then any kinda notch.

Correct answer. The first notch pictured is referred to as a "step notch" not a Z'ed frame. The small notch posted by Pro Performance is a bolt in "C-notch" which is common to most average size lowering kits.
