Re: Seat question..
ALMOST. I just did this today. Had to get a 2 inch piece of square tubing to run along the front of the seat where the runners mounted to raise it as well as give a mounting surface for the runners, BTW, had to cut off two inches of the front of the runners after mounting it. The rear has two mounting mounting legs on each of the runners. Bolt the outside one down and drill and bolt the inside legs. Then you have to notch the rear mounting holes where they mount to the floor, the holes will be about 1/2 inch off. Measure , measure , measure.... Your holes

Re: Seat question..
Does the 88-91 seat give you more leg room? How is the room behind the seat?

Re: Seat question..
yes it is actually more comforable. the foam is thinner but sturdier that the springy seat. I used a 2 inch block in front of mine so it would lean it back slightly. Im am 6'3 and weigh in at about 260 so I need the leg room. it is alot more comfortable. I had to get mine in and fitted becaue I am fixing to get my interior re-done

Re: Seat question..
Looks great, thanks for the info.
Does anyone know of any seats that are a direct fit on our trucks? |

Re: Seat question..
With our strange floor design, I think even GM figured it out after the square bodies

Re: Seat question..
Don't let that picture scare you off, it's not that bad of a job and that is way under the seat, you can't even see it

Re: Seat question..
Yeah, it looks great. I just don't have cutting tools, and most likely not really the skills do to that kind of thing.

Re: Seat question..
Nothing to it, it's 51.5 inches long. Cut the agles 1.5 inches and diagonal bolt it down and drill the drill the holes for the new bolts, really nothing to it. I could it ALOT faster now that I have done it once, but took a couple hours to do it the first time

Re: Seat question..
I am planning to mate the 1987 frame to the 88-98 seat. Hope it gives me more belly room.

Re: Seat question..
This a 93 seat in my 76 using modified 93 tracks. The seat was too high with the 93 brackets so we cut them down.
You can kind of see the where the bracket was cut down in the 2nd pic. And dont make fun of the tweed the truck is in the process of an interior overhaul! |

Re: Seat question..
JWall, was the bracket cut level or angled since the front needs some rise? I've been looking for a nice red bench because my belly and the steering wheel are a little too close at times.

Re: Seat question..
i have later model seats in my truck, (not 88-98) & one thing that i found to really make them shine (regardless of which seats you use), is to throw a tilt column in with the seats. it's pretty much impossible to not get comfortable then

Re: Seat question..
Big D and J-wall,
Thanks for the picture of the seat. I think I am going to try to find a cloth tan or brown 88-91 seat for my 84. I am 6'3'' and could use a little bit more room. I also feel like I am all up on the steering wheel. I will keep my eye out the next time I go to the pick n pull. |

Re: Seat question..
Well that's the way to go. I'm 6'3 and it helped my leg room tremendously

Re: Seat question..
1st pic is a 93 seat (60/40) in my 74 truck. 2nd pic is buckets out of a 90 suburban I picked up at the junk yard cheap. 88-91 suburban seats, bench or buckets are nicer than regular truck seats in my opinion and will fit fairly easy since the floors have the same hump as the trucks. The 88-98 c/k seat like mine are nice too, but are a pain to install. I had to cut and modify the brackets just like the seats earlier in this post.
