Thinking bout buying this for parts. Asking price is 500 smokes. Has a 700r4 in it that is supposed to be good. The only thing in the engine bay is a 350 short block. Owner said the top end was stolen in the middle of the night. Is it worth 500, or should I pass?

Re: 69 value

I bet you could sell the couch for nearly that much! LOL JK!

As has been mentioned, you could part out what you can and sell the rest for scrap. Body looks pretty strait to me, couple hundred in body panels fenders, tail gate, grill, wheels, that 700r4... I bet you could take what you want, part out what you don't and easy get your money back and then some. That is if you have the room, and time for such a task.

Re: 69 value

It all depends on the condition of the couch in the bed(just kidding). From the pics it looks like you could easily part it for that.

Re: 69 value

I've seen trucks in similar condition around here (SW MO) going for $1000-$1500.

Re: 69 value

No title, yes.

Title, probaby worth up to $1,500.

So yeah, I'd buy it just for the 700R. They're typically 700-1K and up for a rebuild.

Yeah, yall are probably right. Whats sad is the only body part that I wouldnt steal is the right fender. Everything else including the bed is in better shape than what I currently have. I hate to see any of these trucks stripped, but I think I can find a home for the cab and chassis. Buddy of mine has a 72 GMC with the 402 400 that he flipped. Hes been looking for a home for that big block.

Re: 69 value

I was going to say, I would pay that much easy for the bed alone! Go for it!

Re: 69 value

Looks like it has been lowered to me. Can anybody tell by looking. Might just be the tires. I wouldnt mind putting that 700r4 in my truck, but my tranny is fine and I read somewhere they dont do well with 3.08 gears.

Re: 69 value

Those are some of my favorite mirrors on these trucks. My doors have three extra sets of holes, and the mirrors that are on there dont even fit right.
