What year was all steel floor beds made

I don't know if it makes a differens in short or long beds. Just wondered when they went from wood to steel. Also is there any differences in the beds between the 67-72's.

Re: What year was all steel floor beds made

The steel floor was standard in all Fleetside beds except the C20-30 8.5' Longhorns. A wood floor was optional in all 6.5 and 8' Fleetside beds. Longhorns were offered with only wood floors. Stepsides in 6.5, 8 and 9' were offered only in wood.

I just thought they was all wood up until a change over sometime along the way. Learning something new everyday here. Love the forum. Thanks Tim

Boy, tim sure knows his stuff!
The wood floor was actually used into the square body also. Maybe 75 or 76?

Re: What year was all steel floor beds made

To answer your question, the change over year was '67. '66 was the last year for all pickups having wood floor. '67 was the first year for steel floors and,as mentioned, the first year the wood floor became an option in Fleetside/Wideside. '87 was the last wood floor pickup with the Stepside/Fendersides...Last year for those beds, period.

Re: What year was all steel floor beds made

Thanks for the support guys! Here is a picture too good not to post here showing the various bed sizes. Lke Special-K expanded on the steel started in '67, the wood stepside went on until the end of production in '87 and the wood fleetside option ended in '80.
