Hood hinges....are they not all the same?

I have a 64 short step side and it had the original hood on it when I bought it.

I put a 61 "bubble" hood on and the back of the hood is raised above the cowl about 1/2 an inch.

If I push down on it pretty hard it will go flush like the original hood, but I can't seem to grasp why it wont fit tight like the 64 hood did?

There are so many variables in production and half a century of wear and abuse I’d be surprised if any two hoods could be installed without needing adjustments in the hinges. Here’s the factory information on how to get that done. The alignment information is on the 3rd page:

Re: Hood hinges....are they not all the same?

What was the problem? my hood has something similar I need to check out now since I can see the pictures. My passenger side is flush but my driver’s side is lower than the cowl... I just threw some washers under there back then when I put the new hood on but I know I should go in and fix the problem the right way.
