I just got this 67 C10 about a week ago after it'd been sitting for a number of years. Did the oils, got it running & it was starting 1/4 turn. Filled the tank & now it dies after a few seconds of choke.

So I sprayed a good amount of starter fluid & I was able to drive.

Tried it a day or too later, started for 6 secs then choked. I am not using more starter fluid unless it is for diagnostic. Checked fuel filter: ok.

Is the fuel pump weak (rust from tank?) or is it a carb problem (needs rev for gear change).

Regarding the carb (250), which kit should I get if it s a good thing to rebuild?

Welcome to the board. It does sound like a carb issue, however I do not know what kit you may need. Someone will surely know on here and post.

I would suggest you try blowing out the old fuel lines (from front to rear) before you proceed. There could very well be enough "crud" in the lines to cause this kind of behavior. The tank may also be full of junk. Removing the tank and flushing the tank itself may be necessary, and it's not that big of a job.

I had a QJet that did the same thing. It had a SLOOOOW leak from the bottom plugs in the carb. When I would drive it would fill up and run and start great. If it sat for a day or 2, I had to refill the carb before it would start.

There is a cloth sock on the pickup end of the fuel line in the tank and over time these get restricted by fuel varnish build up. Pull the sender out and check in the tank and take the others advice as well.

Sorry got locked out my account, then had to move house & that s the aliby i gave my wife to buy this truck; but the winner is:
Carb issue!

Nailed on the head:

Slow leak, got to prime it everyday, currently the gaskets are made of red silicon.
