Priming the Engine
I got my motor rebuilt about two months ago. The people who did it already primed it but ive had it sitting for about 2 months while i getting everything i need done.
I'm about ready to fire it up. Do i need to prime it again since its sat for 2 months

Re: Priming the Engine
It would not hurt and when you say "prime" I assume you are talking about priming the oil pump to get oil flowing to all the vitals before ignition, correct?
You can make your own oil primer from a used distributor or buy one ready to go. |

Re: Priming the Engine
You can also disconnect the power wire from the ignition coil and then crank the engine to build oil pressure. Though it won't be much pressure, it's enough that everything won't be dry on start-up.

Re: Priming the Engine
they make a tool for this. i dont think it is very expensive( maybe $20-30). you can also make one out of a screw driver and an electric drill. but if it were mine, i would prime it again. better safe than sorry.
