Rear axle U-bolts torque specs?

Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the rear axle u-bolts? This is for a truck with trailing arms and the two big u-bolts. I did a search but couldn't find anything...

I did some more searching and think I found the answer which is 145 ft/lbs. Sounds good to me!

my 63 work shop manual says 220-320. 125-165 for the pivots bolts with truck on the ground.

I don't think I can pull my bar that much.
Maybe I need a 4 foot bar.
320 divided by 4 = 80. I can do that.

Re: Rear axle U-bolts torque specs?

I actually bought a new torque wrench for doing these (and stuff on my big Dodge Ram truck). I did 220 ft. lbs. My new torque wrench goes to 250. It was hard to get it to click at 220. LOL

Re: Rear axle U-bolts torque specs?

you have a range of 100. maybe it's given for new/used u bolt. the lower will be used and the higher will be for new, as it's lenghtening it when you torque it?

yep your body might slide on the floor under your arm power with this kind of torque on a short wrench!
