dual feul tanks

I took the drivers side 16 gallon fuel tank out of my pickup the other day with the hopes of installing a 20 gallon in its place but the mounting holes in the frame dont line up with the tank brackets. I can get the front bracket to fit but the rear is off. I have no problem drilling new holes to mount the tank but i was under the impression that both 16 and 20 gallon tanks were options for both sides of the truck.

So you must have a long bed. The short beds will only fit 16 gallons.

The brackets are the same for the 16 and 20 gallons. the only difference is that there are right and left brackets. The brackets look the same, but where the nut is welded to the bracket is where they are different. You must have used the brackets that came with the 20 gallon passenger side??? Just take your old bracket and use them...

Re: dual fuel tanks

yes its a long bed. old brackets were rusted really bad. The new brackets have been modded to fit either side front or back.

yes front to back , but you must weld a new bolt to new bracket. take a close look(if you have your old ones) and you will see that the bolt is in adifferent spot.

should still have the holes though. 4 holes for the front and 4 for the back (on the frame). I took the brackets off a 20 gallon tank truck , and used them on my 16 gallon tanks......only had to make sure the right was on the right and left on left.

Re: dual feul tanks

Hey ..... just got home and took a look at the 20 gallon and 16 gallon tank i have. They both have the same mounting location. meaning the brackets are not further apart. The brackets mount in the same position as your old 16 gallon did.
