Earlier door panels in 72?

Quick question? Will the earlier (67-71) door panels and arm rests bolt right up in a 72?

(Didn't see a place for intros. I'm new to the forum but not these trucks. Just picked up a father/daughter project truck and have already found this place quite useful. Thanks in advance.)

Re: Earlier door panels in 72?

Welcome neighbor! Earlier panels can be used, and fit...however the 72 door and window regulators are longer to compensate for the plastic panels, so the handles will protrude. Swapping for the early regulators solves the issue. You will also need to drill the mounting holes around the door to attach the earlier panels, which is simple and straight forward.

Re: Earlier door panels in 72?

As far as the arm rests are concerned, I assume they attach in the same location and utilize the same capture nuts on the door. Most folks go the other way and want to use 72 panels/armrests on an earlier truck, and I have not heard of any problems with that.
