Power steering and disco brake questions.

Hey all, this is my first truck build and I was wondering.. For the power steer components, gear box and pump what kind of donor vehicle should I be looking for? And as for the front disc brakes to drum conversion I will just be using the black steel rims with baby moons I'd like to keep it the same bolt pattern (6 bolt) now my understanding is that 86 and older should bolt right up aslong as you change the ball joints to match? Any help would be great I know conversion kits are available but I'm trying to do this build on a tight budget.

Re: Power steering and disco brake questions.

I would look for a gearbox from a 70's model. They should be plentiful in the scrapyards. Pump will also work off of the same vehicle. You can get a new pump pretty cheap, though, and most have lifetime warranty, I would also check the parts board on the site, and maybe you have Craigslist up there? Power steering stuff thats not being used sells pretty cheap down here. Also, what engine are you using? That will make a big difference. Brackets for 6 cylinders are rarer and more $$$. Good luck!

Re: Power steering and disco brake questions.

I'm using a 283 and I forgot to mention the trucks a 68'. Brackets aren't a huge issue I'm a welder by trade and have good fab skills. So chances are ill weld up some stainless ones and use the old ones as templates.
