Firewall pad

Firewall pad;
What is the trick to getting these plastic fasteners pressed in?
I have broken a few already

I made a tool to slide inside. The tool is just a rod that goes in the hole with a washer welded to it. And I put a little lube on the tip before driving it in.

I threw mine in the garbage and bought some more flexible ones at the local auto parts store.

Don't use the plastic ones. LMC has the rubber ones...

Then use a pushrod from a smallblock. The rounded end keeps the tip from pushing though the fastener. I put a few drops of oil on the pushrod to make it easy to slide into the fastener.

Hey thx fellows I just noticed today that LMC had the rubber ones, as you mentioned!
I'll order up some of those, surely they we'll go in easier!
