Have bought from GSA, govtliquidations, private sales, state auctions, equipment auctions, municipal auctions. GSA and government liquidators are no reserve auctions. GSA is easiest, no EUC, no buyers premium, no SF97 fee.

This isn't my truck. It was on ebay a while back. I believe it had a six inch lift and not sure about the tires. It actually had a Deuce and a half bed on it that was cut down to fit. Pretty cool.

I bought mine from Govt Liquidation which is a real pain in the tookas the first problem s they make you pay for the truck within three days from end of auction.. then they demand you fill out an end use certificate in some cases. Then within ten days you need to get the people who run the facility to give you an appointment to get the thing out of there and they seldom run, and they wont let you work on the thing on the premises. this turns out to be a bad step because you can wait hours to get into the facility despite having an appointment . I paid a tow service with familiarity to get the thing for me to save the aggravation so I spent about $250 to have it towed about 30 miles
My truck was filfthy and a lot of the trucks are somewhat stripped when you get them. A lot have forklift damages to the driveshafts and bed. Mine had forklift damage to the steering tie rods and the bed, as well as totally garbage batteries and no glow plug card .. this alone cost me more money to replace and repair.. the truck was about $2600 plus the buyers premium and the government charges state sales tax. The other thing is the government does not give you a title with the thing.. you wind up getting a b ill of sale type jobby then you have to file with the auction to get a title which is $66 or so and it took me almost 8 weeks to get mine so it was a lot of steps to get a well worn truck. My truck I then replaced all the rotted front body parts, door seals, injectors relay, seat, dash cap, tailgate, missing spare tire holder and spare did all the fluids and filters, sprayed the door panels and put in silver star headlights so you could actually see things at night. This made the truck a decent reliable legal work horse.
there was no reserve on the auction but these things go for top dollar and there are usually dogfights for the trucks the rarer they get... the government is almost sold out of these things and there are a lot of buyers for them that part them out as opposed to restoring them as the drivetrain is supposedly what the guys who do extreme offroading want

It is not mine. I seen it on Ebay a while back. Thought it was pretty cool looking since I had been looking for one. I have since given up on a search since they are pretty hard to come by in my area. Bummer. I wasn't necessarily looking for a military version but that one is very nice.

Re: can i have some pics of m1008 and m1009's

Bob,
Feel lucky you didn't buy either of these. Holes drilled in fuel tanks and trans pans. One has all wires cut under hood and some under dash. Fluids drained from differentials but at least they removed bolts and didn't drill holes. Bent driveshaft. One has starter removed, no oil or fuel filters. No W/S in the one and both vent windows removed from doors. Lockouts removed from one front axle. Numerous dents on RUST FREE sheet metal on the one. Dry rotted tires. Always expect the worst from a G/L truck and I did and bid accordingly.
The good: NO EUC required, 2 complete drive trains, all 4 alternators, 2 very good seats, 2 almost new 6MT batteries, 1 each side rust free doors, an almost perfect bed and tailgate, 1 perfect rust free cab, 2 perfect front clips, 6 of 8 lifting shackles, 2 good front and back bumpers, i.e. enough to make 1 out of 2. More fun, definitely not for the light hearted.

Re: can i have some pics of m1008 and m1009's

the no EUC is good its the title or whatever form it is that I hate waiting for.. that.. as long as you got them for the right price making two into one isn't too bad... especially if theres enough parts on one that you can make money on the parts too scrap the rest..

ahhh the trusty CUCV, man I hated painting them with CARC paint, and maintaining them, the ones our battalion had sucked...
I'm sure the ones in civilian hands are much much nicer
