Best replacement bumper
Im looking for a chrome rear stepside, can anyone recommend the classic industries bumper? If Im looking for one that is not going to look like crap in two years should I get one from a vendor that specs "premium"?

Re: Best replacement bumper
Good question. I'd like to put a chrome rear on my 65 fleetside, and those $170 bumpers on ebay are pretty tempting. Has anyone tried the cheap ones? A good choice for a "patina'd driver", or a waste of money on junk?

Re: Best replacement bumper
I bought a repro from one of the normal suppliers, and it was paper thin...
I bought another from Keystone in Brainard, MN... factory gauge steel, and they're a chrome plater for the OE bumpers on pick-up trucks... their chrome has to last, or they won't be the OE source for pick-up trucks anymore! Price was as good as any of the other places. It's been on my Suburban for over 5 years now, and looks as good as the day I bolted it on--the Suburban sits outside in all weather, 365 days a year. (218) 829-6324 They also do concours-quality bumper repair and restoration for vintage vehicles, and they're prices are AWESOME. The rear bumper on my Suburban was bent in on both sides, twisted radially about 15 degrees, had several extra holes from trailer hitches, and a 2-inch hole torched in it. It is now perfect, there isn't a single wave in it (they use 3-foot belt sanders, not 6-inch hand grinders to smooth the metal prior to plating) and it's lasted 5 years as well. -Brad

Re: Best replacement bumper
At the time, it was $250... which was $200 cheaper than getting a bumper simply rechromed locally... and nobody would touch the repairs needed.
I can't say enough good things about them. -Brad
