Tire Swing Photos

Hey everyone Just bought a Tire swing for my 72Blazer and would like to get it properly mounted in its factory position. I did see the post of the tire swing schismatic that was posted on this site . It was just to many squiggly lines and to faded out to really read. What I could really use would just be some photos with a tape measure going down the side where it bolts up at. That way I could get a good measurment from the body lines to where to drill my holes . Also a measuring photo going across the tailgate to see where it latches up . Could use one more photo of the inside of the tailgate ... If I could get a team effort on this photos it would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you get the tire swing? I'm looking to get one as well

It should line up. The brackets are curved to fit the bed wall. The tail gate bracket should only fit in one spot. If you put it together and have a buddy or two hold it in place you should get an accurate alignment. You might put some blue tape on the body so you don't scratch the truck and you can mark the location.

There will need to be a trunion type piece which mounts through the tailgate for the latch to latch onto, and two backing brackets that go behind the upper and lower hinge mounts. The upper one has a rod welded to it so that you can reach and hold it up in back of the top hinge to get bolts started in it (both brackets are tapped). Unfortunately, I don't have photos any longer from the one I took off my Blazer and sold.

I have found not much use without special inside parts anyone know where to find them?

The brackets that go inside the bed wall are crucial to getting these things mounted. There are no repops and getting them produced can be expensive because they have compound curves to match the shape of the bedwall. Your best bet would be to post a wanted to buy thread. Sometimes when the swing away is removed, the brackets stay inside the bed wall, especially the upper that requires removing the taillight to access it.

I had photos of the brackets too, but it appears they are no longer on my computer.

Here's some pics of the inner brackets. The top one has a rod welded from the factory so you can send it through the side maker light hole and up to the top of the quarter.

Hey bouncy truck . Could you send a photo of your tailgate with your tire swing opened up and shut . I'd like to see how it latches and unlatches.

Your welcome, they are factory bolt holes.

I believe that the tire carrier was a dealer installed accessory - not a factory installed option. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
