Three bad master cylinders

I bought a new Cardon master cylinder. The reservoir leaked. I then exchanged it for another one. It lasted about 1,400 miles then it had an internal bypass leak. The pedal went to the floor. I just put another one on it, and it has a reservoir leak. I will replace it. They are all Cardon with a life time warranty. I have an 87. Anyone else had this problem with Cardon? It has a plastic reservoir on it. Does anyone make one that is all metal? Or who makes one that will last for years, and years the way they should?

Re: Three bad master cylinders

I can't remember when they went to plastic but I know 73-80 had all metal ones. I put a brand new Napa one on my truck 750 or so miles ago, no leaks no problems.

The three bad ones I put on my 87 where from Napa. What co. made yours. What year is your truck. Would a 73 to 80 work on my truck?

Re: Three bad master cylinders

If I'm not in a hurry, parts come from Rock Auto. I know they have the AC Delco units because I replaced mine recently. Not sure about the p/n, our trucks could be different.

I generally look it up on RockAuto.com, sift through the results and find the one that matches my truck, use the part number listed there to (maybe) find a better price.
