Cab floor.... strange find? maybe...

hey guys, today I decided to pull out my seats to work under the dash & got a wild hair up my rear to just pull out the carpet as well...
Maybe someone can help fill me in on some things I found that I know nothing about...

Pictures say a 1000 words.

WHAT WHERE THE 3 RAISED AREAS IN THE FLOOR USED FOR?
ALSO, WHAT IS THAT PIECE BOLTED TO THE FLOOR USED FOR?

WHAT ARE THESE TWO BRACKETS USED FOR?

Also I have to ask, did 68 cabs come with the 2 lower knobs for the gas pedal? Mine has them....

Any wisdom on this topic would be grateful.....

Scott

Re: Cab floor.... strange find? maybe...

Scott,

I can only help with the last, a 68 would have had a floor mounted pedal and the ball studs are how they mounted.

I also gotta say thanks for the first pic. I have wondered if the 2 sheetmetal screw just forward of the fuel line were for.....now I know.

Re: Cab floor.... strange find? maybe...

I'll take a guess.

I believe the 67s and 68s had the jack and tools stored under the seat. The bracket bolted to the floor on the hump would have had a spring with a large ring attached to secure the jack to the floor. The other brackets probably were to secure the tools. 69 and up had the tools in the right cab corner and the jack on the floor beside the gas tank.

What year is your truck?

I remember as a kid our truck had the jack handle in a bracket like that. I think that is what you have also.

This would be correct. Looks like a 67-68 setup.

Mystery solved... I found a few images searching around on the forums...They explain it pretty well.

Here are the threads where I got the images from...

Jack Hardware Placement...

Cheers...
