Bump stop questions.
I will be installing a 4/6 drop on my short bed soon and have some questions about the bumpstops. I assume that I need to take the rear stops out and cut the brackets off the frame, right? Second is the front bump stops. There is a stop with bracket on the top of lower control arm, this one comes out to right, stop and bracket. There is also just a rubber stop that is on the bottom side of the upper control arm. I want to go ahead and tear down the truck and have it ready for when the parts arrive.

Re: Bump stop questions.
pull the bracket off the rear, start with just removing the rubber bumper on the lower control arm, with 2" coils you may not have to do more. leave the bump stop on the upper control arm

Re: Bump stop questions.
It will be 2.5" spindles and 1.5" springs. Does that make anydifference?

Re: Bump stop questions.
Like most questions on this you can get three people giving you five opinions.
You can run w/o the bump stops but they don't have to be removed. Many people remove them so the bumpstop doesn't limit suspension travel @ the x-member. My experiences say that if you remove the bump stop, you're only shifting where the point of contact is.... If you still have inner fender wells & the tires are tall enough, you'll have occassional interference there. If you remove the inner fender wells & bump stops, the lower control arm bushings will make occassional contact (interference) w/the road. |

Re: Bump stop questions.
Yeah I have the 295/50's on now but I will be buying WV 037 Vette rallies. Looking at 10" in rear with a 5"bs and 8" up front with a 4"bs and a different size tire. Maybe a 255/60 or something. I will just keep the other two 295's as backups.

Re: Bump stop questions.
With a 1.5in spring drop you can probably trim about 1in off the tip of the rubber bumpstop and still have enough travel. You can allways trim or remove it later if it still makes contact.
