69' looks with 05' guts

Hey this is my first real post here.

Just to introduce myself. My names Ben, I'm 23, started welding when I was 16. I live out in the middle of know where and I grew up with nothing but old Chevys.

Now here's the project.*
I bought a 1969 C-10 SB Step Side when I was 18. I abused it a bit and now I want to give it new life by repairing the body and putting it on a new chassis. Originally I was just going to do a motor and trans but figured I would go all out. So I bought a donor truck, I picked up the 2005 silverado a few months ago and just started the project.

Pics will be up a few hours.

1) This is the donor truck. 2005 1/2 ton Silverado, 4.8, automatic, 90,000 miles or so, fleet vehicle. Drive it 300 miles as is.

2) This is the other one. 1969 C-10, Short Box, Stepside, had a 305, 4 speed, all one ton running gear from the factory, 4:11 posi. Sorry bad pic.

3) Bed was off next day.

4) The "new" bed was just set on the get a visual. The bed would sit lower but the springs need to be moved to the inside. The problem with that is in order to move them in the tank needs to move which I'm trying to avoid if at all possible. At this point I'm thinking of using the old suspension as a solution (assuming it clears) I also prefer coil springs rather than the leafs.

5) Test fittin the 05' seats. They sit perfectly, and are just the right width, just need to drill a few holes when I do go to mount them.*

6) adding the rear light bar, seems to look good and the bed lights would be nice.

7) Got the front clip disassembled, pretty much just folded the wiring harness up leaving as much connected as possible.

8) Got the cab separated*

9) 05' Frame

10) 69' Frame

11) Got the "new" cab pretty well set. Needs to come forward a few inches. Some Notable things at this point. The 05' core support holds the fenders the same distance apart as the '69. The cab needs the back notched about 1" on either side as sheet metal tapers in and barely hit the frame. The steering doesn't line up but I think that will be fixed by using the '05 column. The width from outside tire to outside tire is almost the exact same. The wheel base needs to shorten about 18". I'm going to use as much of the 05' wiring harness as possible. I did put a EZ wiring harness in my truck a couple years ago that will also get partially used when needed. Other than that everything is going way smoother than planned. So far I have 3 weekdends into this.

I'll try to do a update every weekend as I have time. Any hints, tips, comments, thoughts or suggestions welcomed.
