What rear shocks for 4/6 drop?

I did a 4/6 drop on my 70 leaf truck & mounted my new "lowering" shocks from summit & the truck sits down all the way but the shock is fully compressed at rest height! Shocks are 12.3 collapsed (pro comp)...looking for a shorter shock without having to make new brackets to weld to the axle housing. What are u leaf guys using for your 6in rear drops?

How did you lower the rear?

Re: What rear shocks for 4/6 drop?

I used the djm flip kit & adjustable shackles...I ended up returning the shocks to summit & they're sending me shocks that are 15 inches extended & 10 collapsed...I guess the first time I ordered them he must have been confused about the rear being lowered even though on the same order I got the flip kit & also told him I was using drop shackles for a total of 6, lol! Oh well, I'm used to it...I must have remade brand new parts or sent back a couple hundred things when I built my 64 Chevelle! Business as usual...

Re: What rear shocks for 4/6 drop?

Usually the upper shock mount needs to be moved to make the shocks more vertical.
I would do that first and them measure for shocks.

The other option is to relocate the rearends mount to make the shocks more vertical.

Sorry I have no bolt-on shock numbers.
I've never done this exact swap.

Re: What rear shocks for 4/6 drop?

It's all good man, thanks for the info! These shocks will atleast get it back on the road...then if I have to I'll just make my own tabs for lower mounts & weld them on the rear end for a better angle like u suggested.
