custom steel lines ???

for those of you that have made your own hard lines, what do you use to make your bends and more importantly how do you straighten the lines out since they seem to come rolled up ??

I don't buy it in a roll. It is a pain to straighten out. I would buy the 6 foot lengths that they sell at Napa and bend it and cut it to length and flare the ends.

buy a good quality tubing bender and flaring tool.

Just my thoughts

ditto. I buy a selection of longest lines and several mid-size lines. Short lines will be available after yoiu chop you long straight lines. Personally, I'd rather put a union between two lines (like the front to rear long line) than straighten a roll. Recommend buy a good cutter (still cheap) and a decent bender. Accept that you will buy more line than you will need and that way you'll have it available on the next project. I've done both, bent my own, which I enjoyed, and bought a complete new set. The jury is still out on that one...

The roll of green coated from oreilly's works great. Just take your tme and un roll it. When you cut it wth the tubing cutter make sure you use a 45 degree chamfer bit to chamfer the inside of the line. It will flare better. k-d tool smakes the tubing benders.

The best way I have found to unroll tubing is to lay the end on the ground and step on it.Keep the roll straight up and slowly unroll, straightening as you go.This seems to work well.I have also rolled out the length I needed and cut it,then left it lay and rolled the tube back and forth across the FLAT floor to get it straighter.
