Need pic please: LH frame hole for camper harness
Adding a camper harness and I can see the schematic in the factory manual. Can anyone help with a post of where the frame hole is relative to other adjacent frame structures? This is the hole where the harness crosses from inner to outer frame before heading up to the bed. Thanks! Pete

Re: Need pic please: LH frame hole for camper harness
I'm not sure if all years were the same, and I'm 2000 miles from my 69 so I can't double check. I don't recall the harness passing through the frame. Mine came new with the harness running on the inside of the frame then through a loop attached to the back of the cab with a hex head sheet metal screw just above the cab floor level. It then simply came up between the front bed panel and cab and was coiled and stashed in the left front stake pocket.

This is where mine is located,it is about inline with the front of the box and just behind the frame crossmember.

Re: Need pic please: LH frame hole for camper harness
My 70 harness runs down the firewall and inside the frame all the way to the back.
My 73 has the harness plug inside the bed; again the harness runs down the firewall, inside the frame, into this bracket, and then over the frame rail and up into the bedside.

Re: Need pic please: LH frame hole for camper harness
Oops, it looks like mine did come through the frame below the front bed mount bracket before being attached to the cab as noted in my post above. I found a picture I took during disassembly. It's not a very good pic, but I've zoomed in and attached it. The loop was attached to the cab back just above the cab floor and below the left bottom corner of the 2nd recessed area on the cab above the frame. I can see the screw hole on my computer (it looks like a light colored spot), but I'm not sure it'll show up here.
These were shipped by GM without any type of connector, just the coiled up harness placed in the stake pocket. This is also described in the Assembly Manual. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 02-15-2013 at 03:09 PM. |

Pete- Here's where mine comes through. 72 Longhorn with Aux tank. Don't know if it would be the same on your truck. This truck has multiple plugs all over the place.
