Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

This thread is for 5.9 Cummins part numbers to try to save some one some time and hassle. If you have some odd ball stuff that you searched for ever on your swap, post it. If you're looking for something, ask and I'll try to find it for you.

First, this is a front seal kit with a wear sleeve for your crankshaft. 90% of the front seals replaced out there need the wear sleeve because the original seal wore a groove in the end of the crank and most people just install a new seal and that's it.

Here is the rear seal with the wear sleeve.

Next is a front seal installer. Makes front seal installs so much nicer!

3824498

Here is a KDP tab.

3958017

This is a fuel filter for VE engines with out the water in fuel sensor.

FS1251

These parts are what you need to put a tach drive on the injection pump/front cover.

2 3027685 M6 1.00x12 Bolts

1 3903475 Rectangular Sealing Ring

1 3914132 Angle Drive Adapter

1 3917333 Tach Drive Hup Coupling

1 3915800 Seal, Rectangular Ring

1 3918215 Adapter Tach Take Off Drive

Intake spacer to delete grid heater or for a P-pump 24v

Gaskets for Grid heater or Above Spacer

Re: Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

Hey diesel wrencher . Here you posted the kit to install a tach drive. What do you think the difference is between a mech tach and a speedo? The orriginal gm diesel tach to fit my truck ( you cant find anymore ) Looks just like the speedo beside it. The hr meter even has same num of digets as the odometer on the speedo. If to get a gauge face decal kit it comes with a tach decal that fits right on a speedo. What im getting at is if you hooked a speedo to a tach drive do you think you could ever make it measure close ??? Ie 2000 rpm showing as maby 20 or 30 mph on the speedo.

Have I made that sound confusing enuf?? Let me know your thoughts .

You might be able to. The speedo head should be a 1:1 and the injection pump speed is half of engine speed. If you used a little gear box to double the cable speed before the speedo, you probably can get it set up. I'm pretty sure places like PATC sell the gear boxes like this.

Re: Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

Hey I was just wondering what you would have to do to run a stock electrical tach on a 1st gen 12 valve I saw you put part numbers for a mechanical tach so I was just wondering how to make a electrical tach to work. thanks

Re: Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

Thanks to COS399 for this tip. The below description has a part number in it for an internal voltage regulator that will go inside a dodge cummins alternator so the ECM or an external voltage regulator isn't required on your conversion. I haven't used one yet but will on the next one I do.

The box is marked as being made by "TRANSPO" and the part number is "IN8315." Below the part number it reads "V R INSERT NIP/CHR." I am assuming it means, voltage regulator insert Nipondenso and Chrysler.???

Re: Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

I dont know what the local alt guy did with mine but I gave him my dirty old stocker and he gave me back a new looking one with 1 wire hook up and self exciting . When you start the truck just give the throttle a blip above 1000 or so and you see the lights go brighter and stay bright . I think he charged me $140 ? Works awsome . Maby this is what he used inside mine .

Ryan,

Dawna informed me that a Bosch alternator requires a "C8315" regulator. Not sure what year /s has the Bosch alternator.

These thread will sure come in handy.

Re: Cummins Part Numbers You may Need

For anyone looking online, I found this place below sells the IN8315 regulator.

They also have the C8315 as well.
