How is this for my 72???? HELP
Okay, So I am at the point in my build where I have to get some tunes in place...
I have been looking and reading on here and other sites. I dont want to cut the truck up for kickpanel speakers so what do you think of this? This is the stuff I picked out at this point: I chose the Kenwood because it's pretty much like the KMR-350U that I have in my boat, and I like that unit. The rest is open for debate by a long shot... I don't want to shake the truck to death I just want a nice full sound at moderate volume. I'm really not sure about this sub or whether I need it either....but I do like a nice full sound so. The four's go under the dash in the stock location and the boxs would fire forward under the front of the seat. (I have the bracket to mount the 4's) What do you guys think????? Re: How is this for my 72???? HELP
First of all....I am no expert but I was really into car audio for about 5 yrs until I had to get out of it (it was starting to eat up all my $$$ and time -my last system in 1999 cost me around 2500 and I did all the install myself and got everything at clearance prices (about 10k retail worth of equipment)
I assume you're talking about the 4's under the stock speaker grill in the upper center of the dash? what about the panels that go on top of the kick panels? You don't cut your kick panels out.....I actually have a pair somewhere....they are abs and you cover them with some material to match your seat or door panels and cut out the speaker hole....that would be 1000% better sound than a couple 4's in the center of the dash. I'd do 6 1/2" components with the tweeter aimed up on the kick panels and something still in the center spot to really round out the sound... As far as sound quality those other speakers under the seat won't do a lot for it other than adding volume. I'd recommend to go with 6x9's in the rear cab corners...there are a few people making brackets for back there and one vendor on the board. I think the bass speaker is a good idea....you don't have to rattle the truck....but as you mentioned...it will fill out the sound and allow the smaller speakers to do their job without having to try to replicate the bass if you can set the crossover cutoffs correctly...

As for speakers i have 6.5's in the kick panels and two 6x9 in the cab corners with Boom Mat behind them and a 10 inch behind the seat.I'm not trying to thump & bump, just wanted a full rich sound which i have.

You think you could locate those panels for me??? Sounds better so long as i don't have to hack the truck up. And yes, I was talking about the little 4's for under the dash in the center location above the deck. I just need to get going so I can button all the ac lines and such together. I sure as heck want all the wires done before I pull the ac vent tubes under there. I still have the gas behind the seat... no room for a 6x9. Last edited by LakeAnna; 02-16-2013 at 03:43 PM. |

Radio with CD etc... I wish I knew more about some kickpanels that don't require hacking up the truck.

The link I posted has kick panels that you dont cut the truck up, the speakers stick out some you dont have to cut holes in the cab.
Posted via Mobile Device LMC sells kick panels for speakers as well. |

Re: How is this for my 72???? HELP
is your dash already cut? if not i would go with something that fits in the stock location. I had a radio that fits in the stock location with aux in and out so you can run an ipod or phone for an audio source and the aux out can be run to your amp for the sub or to another amp for additional sound. I personally like the stock look vs cutting the dash...just personal pref.

Re: How is this for my 72???? HELP
Update:
I ordered the Kenwood Deck, the sub and the 4 inch speakers for the center under the dash. Still up in the air on additional speakers for under the seat or a kick panel mount.... |
