shifter arm- 3 in the tree

I might want to swap the end of the shifter with something creative. The current black end piece spins freely - how is it removed? I assume there will be some threaded shaft on the end of the shifter... maybe a captive nut on the end of my homemade shifter knob will match up to it. Any suggestions on this silliness will be appreciated..

Re: shifter arm- 3 in the tree

I think they have a spline on the shaft and the plastic piece is pressed on.. I dont think there is a captured nut in there.

YOu can try a pool ball like this.

Or a 50cc piston like this.
