My 65 Short Box Step Side Project

I bought the truck about 4 years ago. Then drove it on and off the first two years in the summer, but it needed motor work and I also wanted to do a complete make over. So the first picture shows what it looked like when I started (it looked nice from the curb and I love the color, but the prior body work was sub-par). The next major thing I did was to locate another frame (64) which I had blasted and painted (still need to go through all of the bearings, seals, brakes, etc). When the frame is ready the truck will be rebuilt on the clean frame (before and after frame pictures shown). Now I'm in the process of rebuilding everything so the truck is stripped down pretty good (picture posted). I'm leaving the cab on the frame and the drive line complete so that I can conveniently move it around here at home and will also need some professional help on the some of the cab panel replacements. When complete the truck will be powered by a strong 355 sbc and will be painted the deep teal metalic that is currently on the truck. Thanks for looking; I hope to have it on the road later this year and remember that a man has to have a dream to have a dream come true. My best to all of you.

Re: My 65 Short Box Step Side Project

Welcome! I happen to love 65 Steppers! Ha!
That was a nice truck to start with. Glad you have the desire to work on it and share the story.

What kind of tranny do you have?

Yes, the truck did look pretty good (from a distance) when I started, but the body work was mostly plastic and was showing very badly. Tranny is a late 60's Saginaw (Camaro or Nova) 4 speed. Thanks for looking.

Looks good, you have gotten a lot of work done already (I just got my 65 Step Side frame done and am now patching the cab). Good luck on the project and keep us up to date on the progress.
