Where to get a set of beauty rings?

I need a new set of beauty rings for my 1987 Silverado half ton. Just your standard 2WD single cab with the standard ralley wheels. And some center caps as well. Where is the best place to buy them? I found these on ebay:

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

I got mine through Jegs but they were pretty expensive.. also you had to make sure they fit like the factory ones as some don't come all the way onto the rim like they are supposed to from factory

I got mine through Summit.

Skunk - be advised the ones shown in the ebay ad, like the ones I got through Summit, are not exactly as original. They are smooth, like a Corvette trim ring, rather than the OE which had a distinct edge on the show surface.

They are fine for my daily driver but depending on how much of a stickler you are you should at least be made aware.

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

Yeah I'm a pretty big stickler. I like things to look factory within reason. Did ALL the trucks have an edge? I seem to remember my 81 being smooth, but then they might not have been factory, I can't say for sure.

Also, I heard that you want to stay away from chrome. You want stainless steel and you can just polish that up if necessary. They say that actual good chrome ones are few and far between and aren't worth the risk trying to find them when you can just go stainless. I'll just get mine from summit or jegs, thanks everyone.

Now on to my next question! lol.

Where can I get that big chin spoiler thing that goes under the front bumper? I have seen it around, but is anyone selling it for pretty cheap? I'm trying to do this mild resto on a budget if possible.

LMC carries 2 different size air deflectors a 4" and a longer 5" that is shown on my 83

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

I bought mine at the Lawrence, KS swap meet. Bought three from one guy and the fourth from Teeitup. Think I have less than $20 in the whole set. They are not perfect, but they cleaned up real nice.

Those would not be OE correct for an '87.

The absolute correct ring looks like this:

Here's what I ended up with, from Summit (8" Corvette style trim ring):

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

Agreed. I wasn't/am not worried about being absolutely correct. Also, I don't like the real deep beauty rings. Just my preference.

What center caps are you looking for?

Thanks for posting the pics I like the narrow ring too, the deep ones seem to make the wheel look smaller dia IMO

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

yeah not quite sure which are factory seems i've seen both the rounded ones and the ones with the slight ridge not quite sure if its year or model of truck but my 86 gmc and chevy 2wd trucks which im sure were had oem rings were rounded like the ones i seen at the parts store which i had to get new lock knobs today so figjred id peek back at the beauty rings which are 12.99 a piece and on second look are not bad at all except they are chrome. now my 86 4x4 had more of a ridge and were not round like the 2wd trucks ive owned. so im a little confused but am getting a set since i still have my gmc steel rims i use on my 76 with my winter tires.

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

Bought the ones off summit. According to you guys they're year model correct, and they're stainless steel. From what I've been told there are several negatives to getting them in chrome. Such as being in a bad spot for getting scratched, bad chrome jobs, can't be easily repaired, etc.

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

Thanks for the help everyone. Got rear bumper ordered from summit now as well. And so now, all I really need to find is some inexpensive center caps. They have 'em on classsic parts and on LMC, for way too high IMO. These things:

i got 2 of them, you can have one for free but the shipping might wipe out the cheapness of it

Re: Where to get a set of beauty rings?

Are they cracked or otherwise damaged? If not and we can figure out the shipping I might take you up on that. The link didn't work to the ebay one so here it is again. Says it fits R10 burb so perhaps it fits the trucks as well?

after closer inspection(been yrs since i looked at them), one has scrapes on bottom from road contact, this one is pretty decent, has a small 1/4 crack off one of the bolt holes. $50 for the ebay one is good deal, dont know if $50 shipping would cover it my door to yours.oh yeah, their both off '85 crew's
