Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

You won't need another PCM, you can have the tune changed to accomodate the 4l60e, it will require a segment swap, which most tuners can handle. Your wiring harness will need to be slightly modified also, but it's nothing major. The 4x4 stuff can be removed and tuned out also.

Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

are you doing anything to the LQ4? cam swap? hard tune?

if you are, get the 4l80e, the 4l60e wont live long behind the torque of that 6.0 if you add anything.

if your going stock, then maybe if your easy on it a stock 4l60e will survive for a while

Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

im really good friends with jake over at jakes performance, i could build a 4l60 to handle 600 hp, i want a 4l80 just need to find one for the right price you know. not quite sure want i wanna do with the 6.0, i ordered hp tuners, eventually i might do a cam, valve springs, maybe a pro charger.. my buddy has a sstb all stock with 4l80 built andhp tuned he is running in the mid 12's i would rather get a 4l80 like you said they are wayyy stronger plus i can buy one and sell my 4l60 get bck some loss before i blow it up lol

Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

I believe the tbss have the 4l65e. Little stronger than a 4l60 couple upgraded parts..

Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

Unfortunately, I believe, that you believe...wrong.
4l70e was the stock tbss trans, and is mechanically related to the entire family of 700r4/4l60/4l65 transmissions but has an additional input speed sensor kinda like the 4l80es.

The 65e was in a bunch of vehicles like the silverado ss, but not the TBSS

Re: ls swap computer help!!!!

From a TBSS owner......yes they all came with a 4L70e. However...there are guys swapping a 4L80e/4L85e into their TBSS's as an upgrade. Even heard of a 6L80e swap. With 4700+lbs to move and an LS2 on the other end...the 4L70e's still aren't strong enough in stock form to handle the power.
